Kirkwood seeks to provide pastoral care to all its members and friends. As we define ourselves to be a community of faith, each of us shares a responsibility for supporting those in need. Our Pastoral Care ministry is led by Pastor Hope Lee, and carried out by the pastors, Deacons and church members.
This ministry includes hospital visitation, homebound visitation, care of members and families at end-of-life, flowers, cards, and encouragement. We keep in regular contact with hospitalized and homebound members and friends. Pastoral Care also delivers meals created by the Mission Team, and supports new families as they grow. Home communion is available to the homebound.
The Caregivers Support Group meets once a month to support those who are primary caregivers for a loved one with life-limiting illness or memory challenges.
The Prayer Shawl ministry is a group of dedicated members who create shawls to be distributed to those in need of comfort. This group meets once a month and lessons are available.
A Healing Prayer Group meets the 4th Monday of every month (2pm in the Parlor) to offer prayers for God’s intervention for individual, local, and global concerns. A strong belief in the power of prayer is a basic tenet of Kirkwood.
Requests for prayer, or addition to the prayer chain, may be called in to the church office at 794.6229, emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or noted on the blue pew cards in the sanctuary. Prayer requests may also be made online by clicking the Prayer Request Link.
All pastoral care concerns are handled with confidentiality. Members are encouraged to contact the church office at 794.6229 or speak personally with Pastor Hope Lee or any of the pastoral staff in times of hospitalization or need.
